LUKE ANTHONY BLOODSTOCK CURRENT NEWS
Saturday 30th January Crossley unimpressive
Crossley had worked exceptionally well leading into his second up run in the CS Hayes stakes but ran below par. The horse was scoped and had all necessary medical checks after the run and there was no abnormality to be found. Crossley has since worked well and he will race with a tongue tie on at Benalla in a class 1 over 1400m. We expect the normal Crossley to race a lot better in this upcoming race.
Friday 15th January Crossley runs a blinder first up
First up over 1200m isnt Crossley cup of tea but at Moonee Valley today he showed a turn of foot to come off a slow pace and rocket home to be beaten a lenght in what was to be very quick sectionals for the night. Crossley is in great shape and we will next run in the CS Hayes Stakes at Flemington on Saturday 30th over 1400m against 3yo colts. Fingers Crossed leading into this race.
Tuesday 21st October Gigantor wins again
Well Gigantor was too strong in his final run for the prep at Kyneton over 2000m. Gigantor ridden by Dale Smith had the perfect run in the race and when asked for the final effort he found the line well and was too strong. The big horse will now go for a spell for around 6 - 8 weeks and will return where he will be aimed at some metropolitan races over 2000m +. Mick Price was delighted in the horses prep and thinks he will be a lot of fun for the owners over the next 12 months.
Tuesday 29th September CROSSLEY another nice Elvstroem
Crossley has always shown good ability but his run recently at Seymour was that of maybe something a bit better. Crossley whom we thought was 6 months away from showing what he was made of came out first up over 1400m and easily beat his rivals. Crossley is a colt by Elvstroem so we can only expect brighter things to come in the near future as he matures. Mick Price had this to say about the recent win "...Nice win it showed what I have always thought of the colt, I think he will make a better gelding in the future but lets press onto Flemington on the 3rd October and see how he goes against some quality colts..."
Sunday 6th September Minneapolis Encouraging
Well Mineapolis performed well above expectation at Cranbourne on Sunday over 1600m and looks sure to be able to win a race very shortly... Jason Benbow rode another great race for Luke Anthony Bloodstock and gave the horse every chance to improve which he surely did. it is likely that Mineapolis will have his next start around the weekend of the 12th September over 1600m again. Fingers Crossed he can again improve and go onto to become a nice horse.
Saturday 15th August Gigantor Devastating at Pakenham
Gigantor wins by 10 lengths! yes 10 Lengths... At only his third start, with 68kg on his back and against some older horses Gigantor was simply too good. Brett Scott who had the arm chair ride today put Gigantor in the perfect position and the result was never in doubt from the 600m mark. Gigantor who has never missed a place in his three starts to date will now be stepped up to 2000m where his staying ability will allow him to be very competitive. Congratulations to all owners of Gigantor both Mick Price and I are delighted with today's result.
Thursday 23rd July Gigantor Ready to Rock...
Gigantor trialed well at Bendigo recently and will have his first up run over 1500m at Ballarat on Thursday 30th July with Damien Oliver aboard. Gigantor who finished second at his first start has been working well at Caulfield and with the addition of one of Australia's best jocks aboard we feel he can really go well first up. Fingers crossed for Gigantor next week.
Wednesday 2nd June Aloisi and Red Story double
Well its been a long time since we purchased both Red Story and Aloisi but today they both saluted with 10 minutes of each other. Red Story made it three in a row over in Rockhampton with a fighting win over 1300m. Whilst Aloisi was explosive on the wet ground at Warnambool when first up over 1100m for Neil Walsh. Fingers crossed they can continue to win and that Aloisi steps up to a midweek wet track in the next month or so.
Friday 24th February Tulssami going well in WA
It was a big decision to continue to race Tulssami and send her to WA. The mare was rising five when she left Mick Price's stable and it could have been thought that the best was behind her but since arriving at Shane Edwards property just outside of Perth she has done nothing but thrive. Tulssami rocketed home last start to finish second at Pinjarra and I think we will be riding her quietly in future to get her to finish off like she did recently. Anyway fingers crossed for Tulssami as she is lovely mare and she has a date with Shinzig this coming breeding season.
Tuesday 17th February Congratulations to Mick Price
1,000 Winners For Vic Trainer Mick Price.
Victorian trainer Mick Price recorded his 1,000th winner when 3YO gelding Pre Eminence (Encosta de Lago-Lady Silver Hawk, by Silver Hawk) scored in the weekend's Gr2 Alister Clark Stakes (1600m) at Moonee Valley in Melbourne. And minutes later he made it 1,001 when 2YO filly Pergram won the Listed Blue Sky Thoroughbreds Queen Adelaide Stakes (1000m) at Cheltenham in Adelaide. Well done champ keep up the good work.
Monday 19th January Magic Millions Sales
Well we are finally back from the recent Magic Millions Sales where the prices were quiet strong but there were bargains also to be had. Luke Anthony Bloodstock picked up three horses including a Snitzel and a Show A Heart Colt and an Exceed and Excel filly at very reasonable prices. Mick Price was delighted in our purchases and feels they are all great additions to our stable. Luke Anthony Bloodstock also purchased 25% in a Tale Of the Cat filly with our WA man Shane Edwards. As most of you know Shane has done a great job with Tulssami so we are currently selling 2 x 10% shares and will retain the remaining 5% in the speedy filly. Feel free to contact Luke Wilkinson if you would like to race a horse in the lucrative Perth market.
Thursday 26th November Neurotic Back
Neurotics back! The nice Delago Brom filly is back in the Mick Price stable and should be ready to race by Christmas time where we expect her to break her maiden status before going on to bigger and better things. Neuotic is in a picture of health and is getting a lot of extra TLC from stable foreman Mick Nolan who is simply smitten with the filly's toughness and eating abilities. Fingers crossed over the next 4 -5 weeks that all goes to plan and we are able to again see some of the ability she showed us when she was last in work.
Monday 17th November Red Story Racing Well
Red Story is back and racing in great form. After a first up fourth where he missed the kick and stormed home Red Story has gone one to win a class 1 at Bendigo on Caulfield Cup day and a gutsy second at Cranbourne in a class 2 event. Both times Dale Smith has been aboard when Red Story has performed well and we would like to thank him for his great rides. Red Story will next run at Kyneton on the 2nd December where we expect him to again acquit himself well...
Saturday 9th August Neurotic has not luck at headquarters
Neurotic Princess was unlucky on Saturday at Flemington where she had her second start over 1410m. Neurotic missed the start and was given no possible chance but ran on nicely to finish fourth in a run that many of her owners and her trainer would like to forget. Neurotic will now spell for 10 weeks at John Ledgers property before returning to pre training where it is expected that she will have her next start around NYE in 2008 before heading on a 3yo classic campaign. Neurotic Princess is a lovely filly who will only get better with time and all of her owners are glad to be a part of a filly on the way up...
Wednesday 23rd July Neurotic delights at her first start
Neurotic Princess (Delago Brom x Myxaar) ran a great race to finish third at the Recent VRC Bendigo meeting at her first ever start. Neurotic Princess was ridden by leading jockey Damien Oliver who described her as “special” and went onto say “Don’t spell her,,, I want to be on her at her next start!”
Many of Neurotics owners are maidens to the world of racehorse ownership and there has been a lot of excitement and enthusiasm since her excellent first up run. The filly is likely to have her next run over 1400m at Flemington on the 9th August and hopefully Damien Oliver will get the chance to ride her as it is likely she will get a lot less weight. Fingers Crossed until then….
Tuesday, 8 July 2008: Strong Reports On Our Elvstroems
Speaking of Elvstroem, his former trainer Tony Vasil has high praise for a number of his rising two-year-olds.
Blue Gum News has reported some favourable comments from the trainer, who also put the polish on Elvstroem's half-brother Haradasun for his dual Australian Group 1 wins before being sent to Aidan O'Brien for his Royal Ascot success both are from the champion Marscay mare Circles Of Gold.
The morning after Haradasun's Royal Ascot win a number of other positive reports have made their way back to Blue Gum Farm about the Elvstroem yearlings.
Sue Ellis from Eliza Park described the Prenuptial colt ($130,000 Melbourne Premier) as “special” and “very professional.”
Those comments were backed up by Darren Mackereth, the Head Breaker at Eliza Park, who described him as a “class colt and a super mover.”
Saturday 7th June Grassie Runs a Gallant Second
Grassfire defied odds by being narrowly beaten at Swan Hill on Saturday 7th June over 1600m. Grassfire with Jarrod Fry aboard and racing for her new trainer Jarrod Mclean was narrowly beaten after a torrid dog fight with the race favourite all the way down the long Swan Hill straight... It was great to see Grassfire competitive again after a run of below par performances. The stable change seems to be working well for Grassfire and it is expected that she will continue to improve with every run that she has for her new stable...
Frday 25th April New Ponies!!!!
Well maybe not ponies but really nice yearlings.... Last week I ventured to the 2008 Sydney Easter Yearling Sale with some dreams and a lot of hope and was able to secure 2 lovely yearlings for our handy stable. The first horse I was lucky enough to buy was a Hussonet colt out of Residencia (nz) that is a lovely running type of 2yo by the all conquering sire Hussonet who is doing a great job at stud. The second was a big strong Red Ransom Colt who is a full brother to the Group 1 stallion RED DAZZLER, the colt was fully syndicated within minutes between many long time Mick Price clients and we should have a bit of fun racing him..

Thursday 3rd April Luke Anthony Bloodstock Update
Just a little update on all aspects of Luke Anthony Bloodstock. Firstly we had a great year in 2007 with 11 wins which quite simply was amazing and very satisfying. After this great year I was able to go the sales with confidence and I am delighted with my 4 purchases to date, they being an Elvstroem Colt, Royal Academy Filly, Johannesburg Filly and a Flying Spur colt. At this Stage both the Elvstroem Colt and Royal Academy filly are fully syndicated whilst the Johannesburg Filly and the Flying Spur colt are quickly filling. At present Grassfire and Red Story are in full work with Grassfire about to have her second up run on 7th April over 1600m (should go close) whilst Red Story will have his second trial on the 8th April and race shortly afterwards. Neurotic Princess is in pre training an looking well whilst Tulssami will return to pre training after a brief break on the 11th April.... On sadder news Spin Queen the great little mare is no longer with us after to succumbing to colic whilst spelling, Kurotaka has been retired and is to be sold as a broodmare and Gentle Dancer has been moved on from the Mick Price stables but as the say "That's racing" and we push on forward.....
Friday 1st February Tulssami delights us again
Tulssami is in great condition and is racing in career best form. This was showed on Friday at Ballarat when she posted her third victory from 12 starts. The big girl was a picture of health before the race and was partnered by her new best mate in Jason Benbow who gave her a dream run and she gladly saluted. Tulssami is showing no signs of stopping there either she will next race at either Benalla or Mornington where we would expect her to make it 4 wins from 13 starts. Well done big girl we all love you!!!
Wednesday 26th December My girl makes me proud
Tulssami is probably my favourite horse on the planet. I have others that are better than her on the track but I sincerely love Tulssami as she is one of the first horses I purchased for Luke Anthony Bloodstock and the first winner I ever had in which I solely selected her. Tulssami has attitude, a temper, strong legs and she loves a fight and these attributes I adore in her.
On boxing day at Geelong Races over her pet distance of 1400m Tulssami showed me all of these attributes and another I forgotten she possessed. That being that she is brave and that is the only way you could describe her victory infront of all those people at Geelong. After having a nice run in transit and circling the field at the top of the straight Tulssami had reached the lead but then started to flounder under the circumstances but her rider Jason Benbow asked for another effort and she replied by giving it everything she had and being victorious by a nose. All the owners at the track that day were so very proud of her effort and we hope there are many more victories instore for this daughter of Testa Rossa.
Friday 14th December You little gem Spin Queen
Spin Queen turned around her recent first up defeat at Bendigo with a brilliant victory at Moonee Valley on Friday night. Back to her pet distance of 1000m the filly jumped quickely assumed control and raced away at the top of the straight to put the result beyond doubt. Dale Smith reported that the mare got her tongue over the bit during the run which gives her performance more merit. The mare now has won 4 from 5 and will next head around at Sandown on Saturday 22nd December in a 0 - 89 race again over 1000m.
Sunday 5th November What a debut, What a Ride, What a nice filly...........
 |
What a debut, What a Ride, What a nice filly...........
That was the talk between owners after GRASSFIRE had her first start at Kilmore on Sunday 5th November over 1200m in a 3yo Super Vobis Maiden. The filly looked in great order before the race and virtually all the owners were on course to see her have her first start. The filly seamed to be floundering at the top of the straight when Dale Smith pulled the whip but the big filly found. Her huge stride was noticeable and she gobbled up the ground and weakening leaders to stride clear a length winner. Dale Smith reported after the race "I haven't heard a bigger roar and cheer from a provincial crowd in my life, How many people have you got in this horse???""
Congratulations to all owners I think you have a nice horse here. |
Monday 29th October Red brilliant in Debut
 |
Well it seems along time since this photo was taken. This picture of RED STORY was taken the day after we purchased him at the 2006 Gold Coast Magic Millions Sales for $115,000. On the 27th of October 2007 Red Story made his first appearance at the race track and emphatically saluted by 3.5 lengths. Red Story has shown us for 12 months that he can gallop and on Saturday he showed a fair few others. "Red" raced three wide close to the speed with no cover but with out hesitation idled to the lead and found another gear and powered away under Dale Smith.
There are a bunch of owners in this horse and I think they will have a lot of success in the future and I look forward to seeing RED STORY step out at his next start and continue to show those around us how talented he is...
Special thanks to Mike Price for being the Gun trainer he is.... |
Sunday 26th August The colt is ready to go!
Red Story has just about finished pre training and is expected to return to Caulfield within the next week or so once he is able to travel due to the restrictions created by the outbreak of Equine Influenzer. Sue Eliis is very happy with how the colt has been training and it is expected that Red Story will make his racetrack debut within the next 8 weeks. I am very excited about his return and look forward to showing you all what he is made of.

Saturday 25th August Taka has a break
Kurotaka performed below par at Morphetville in a moderate race and it was decided that the filly should have a break. The filly will now spell at Eliza Park in Kerrie for 8 weeks before returning to pre training to hopefully get back to some winning form.
********************************************************************************************************************************************************
Sunday 5th August Gentle Dancer Runs 3rd at Debut
Gentle Dancer (Danehill Dancer - Gentle Nymph) ran a credible 3rd at her first start at Ballarat last Sunday and if it wasnt for a little bit of interference it could have been a little better of a result. The big flashy Dancer is a lovely filly and is well ahead of schedule to date and it is expected that she will go a lot closer at her next start. A big thank you to her owners for there support they being Frank and Nancy Carratelli, paul and Betty Clohesy, Jason Jurie and finally Dorothy Robinson.
********************************************************************************************************************************************************
Wednesday 1st August Spin Makes It An Easy Hat Trick
Well she went to Moe and treated them with contempt, pressed on to Adelaide ran time and drew away untouched by four lengths and finished up with 58kg on an unprefered Heavy track and made it three from three at Sandown. Oh she maybe something but she is now in the paddock and will return to the track within the next six weeks. Mick Price her astute trained is very happy with her first preparation and he will be placing the filly in winnable races at her next preparation where we expect the run to continue. Thanks for a great month Spin!!!!!

Tuesday 19th June Spin Queen brings joy to all involved
Spin Queen was born in 2003 at Chatswood Stud in Seymour. I remember it well as I was living on the stud where I worked and the phone call came through at about 8pm that my mare Miss Teresa was giving birth. Spin Queen didnt look like much of a racehorse when she was born more like a kangaroo with he long legs but she was ours and we were happy to have her. The chestnut filly spent her early days at the stud before before being shipped off to Copperwood Ranch where she lived for the next 2 years. Upon her second birthday the filly was syndicated with owners Russell Johnson, Scott Murray, Betty Lentakis, Paul Clohesy, Zac McGuane, Chris Gilham, David Clonen, Scott Faulkner, Shane Jack and Matt Walsh all becoming apart of her ownership. The well mannered filly was then sent to Sean Mott's at Bendigo where she was broken in and did everything right but was very immature to hit the race track as yet. Since then she has been under the care of Mick Price at Caulfield and it must be mentioned that he has done a stella job with the filly. Spin Queen showed her ability last time in work with three impressive trial victories and it was Mick Price's superior judgement that decided to give her a bit more time and help her develop. I would like to thank the owners of this filly for there patience over the past two and a half years and wish them all the success they deserve with such a bonny little filly.

Wednesday 23rd May Ready to Pounce
Well winter is upon us and it is a bit cold and hard for the general public to get out of bed but not if you have a horse with Luke Anthony Bloodstock as virtually all of the team are flying on the training track or resting after great campaigns. Firstly Kurotaka is 9 days away from having her 2nd up run and she is tuned up to the minute for that assignment. Then there is Aloisi who is showing his trainer Mick Price that the $130,000 price tag may have been a bargain. Spin Queen is working well and will have her first start in three weeks time, she is likely to trial this coming Tuesday. Caligular the Grass Wonder filly is looking superb in pre training and will race sometime during this preparation. Gentle Dancer is also performing well whilst in pre training at Mornington and should arrive at the Price stable within the next fortnight. The nice Testa Rossa filly (Pinot Maranello) has impressed her pre trainer Sean Mott to no end and is arriving at the Caulfield stable by the weekend. Whilst Red Story and Tulssami are currently spelling at Macedon Lodge after good efforts during there last campaign. You have to be happy to have a horse with Lucky as his tem is going super.

Wednesday 7th February The "run" continues
Australia's youngest syndicator Luke Wilkinson is enjoying a red hot run.
The run continued today when Kurotaka won the Dashing Eagle Handicap (1000m) at Sandown today.
Wilkinson, 27, has cheered home three winners in the past fortnight courtesy of two wins from Kurotaka and another from Tulssami.
The run kicked away at Pakenham on January 21 when the John McArdle trained Kurotaka scored a runaway eight length win on a heavy track. On Sunday another Wilkinson syndication Tulssami broke her maiden status in emphatic style at Kyneton.
And this afternoon it was win number three in two weeks for Wilkinson, who operates under his bloodstock operation, Luke Anthony Bloodstock.
"Things are going well," Wilkinson said after emerging from the winner's bar with his large group of owners.
Kurotaka started the clear cut favourite following the late scratchings of Bella Jewel, Petite Briefs and Eckland and in a performance that impressed favourite punters she proved too good.
At the post she held a one and three quarter length margin over Go Zo, who was a short head in advance of third placegetter Grand Expectations.
Luke Wilkinson is a familiar face at race meetings and sales around country. He works a four days a week for leading Victorian thoroughbred stud Eliza Park and others over the weekend for leading Caulfield trainer Mick Price.
Price doesn't train Kurotaka, but he is in control of the training of Tulssami and he was also one of the first on the scene to congratulate Wilkinson and his large band of owners after the race

Sunday 4th February Tulssami Burns them at Kyneton
"...Tulssami, who is probably my favourite horse of all the horses that I have purchased under the Luke Anthony Bloodstock banner won her maiden by 3 lengths on Sunday the 4th January. Tulssami was the second horse I had ever purchased and initialy she showed promise for the Mcardle stable before her form tapered off and the tough decision was made for Tulssami to join the Mick Price stable at Caulfield. As you all know I think the world of Mick Price and his abilities as a trainer, Tulssami is a prime example of how good Mick is at spotting a horses problem and working with the horse to help it reach its potential. Tulssami's problem is her attitude but Mick has curbed it enough for her to break her maiden by a widening 3 lengths when second up for the stable. Tulssami came through the run in fine fashion and will now head to Werribee on Friday 17th (VRC Meeting) over 1400m where Mick feels she will be very competitive and hopefully successful.
On behalf of all the owners I would like to thank Mick Price, Sheamus Mills, Mick Nolan, "Stretch" and all the staff at the top barn for the help with Tulssami because everyone said she wouldn't win a race but you guys proved them wrong..." Luke Wilkinson

Sunday 21st January Kurotaka Gives Luke Anthony Bloodstock its first Win!
"...Well it had to happen sooner or later and I am glad it was this bonny little filly that got the glory..." explained Luke Wilkinson after the fillies and Mares Maiden victory of Kurotaka at Pakenham and Luke Anthony Bloodstock's first victory. Kurotaka resumed from her 3 month spell in devastating form in winning the 1000m maiden by a widening 8 lengths. Dale Smith who actually rode the first ever runner for Luke Anthony Bloodstock was delighted with the performance of the Black Hawk filly and stated "... She bounced out of the barrier and had the lead within 100m, the race was over after that point and all I did was steer and look good for the winning photo. I think she is a city class filly and if its a wet track then they wont get near her..." Owners celebrated long and hard after the race and it is expected that the filly will race the weekend of the 3rd of Feb where she should go close again....

Sunday 21st January Tulssami Runs Third for Mick Price
Tulssami resumed today with a great third over an unsuitable 1200m at Kilmore in a three year old fillies maiden. The troublesome daughter of Testa Rossa has come on leaps and bounds since beginning training for Mick Price at Caulfield and had run well in recent trials. After coping interference in the run it was expected that the filly would not be in the finish but the Tulssami dug deep and at the top of the straight it looked like the she was to be the victor. Though Tulssami's run ended at the 200m mark and she battled on for a close third. All of her owners were delighted with her run and are eagerly anticipating her next outing of 1400m on the 3rd or 4th of Feburary.
Fingers crossed until then. |

Friday 15th December Spin Queen Trials Too Perfection
The little filly that could amazed all before her as she won her 650m trial at Caulfield by 5 lengths in the quickest time of the morning. The daughter of Dolphin Street from the 4 time winner Miss Teresa was ridden by Damien Oliver and is expected to win her maiden when stepping out for her debute run. The owners of this filly must be over the moon as she has taken a while to come to hand but it looks like there patience will be well rewarded.

Monday 20th November Red Story impressing many track riders
The big strong son of Coolmore stallion Tale Of The Cat has more than a few admirers amongst the trackriders at Caulfield. After only one week in the Caulfield stable of Mick Price the speedy chestnut had been nicknamed "untapped" and also "Valentino" as in the way he can change gears. This is good news and hard not to get excited about but the colt is a long way from reaching the track as he is still immature and needs time. After completing his second week at the Price stable the colt was found to be shin sore and with his owners not wishing to push him to early it was decided to spell the horse for three months at Arundel Farm in Keilor.
*******************************************************************************************************************************************************
Tuesday 7th November Kurotaka and Tulssami back into Pre training
Both Tulssami and Kurotaka have returned to pre training as of the 1st of November and by all reports both horses have grown and strengthened during their breaks. Tulssami now trained by Mick Price will likely enter the Caulfield stable by the second week of December where Mick will soon find out whether we have a nice filly or whether it is time to cut our loses. Kurotaka is still trained by John Mcardle and all concerned with her are eager to see if the speedy daughter of Black Hawk can break her maiden status first up and hopefully head to town soon after. The next four weeks or so are very exciting for both horses connections.
*******************************************************************************************************************************************************
Monday 4th September Tulssami battling the bulge
Well as many knew Tulssami has come back a bigger and better horse this preparation though her first up run at Benalla was not an indication of her true ability. Tulssami will be headed towards spring staying races and her first up run over 1200m should be forgiven as she like many of her owners has been in a good paddock over the winter months. Look for a likely improvement over the coming weeks with the stepping up of her work and the increase in the distances of her races.
*******************************************************************************************************************************************************
Wednesday 23rd August Kurotaka imressive first Campaign
Well the little filly that could proved to all and sundry that she definitely has a bright future. With a brave first up run at Werribee where she ran third from the widdest barrier. The filly then backed this up with a gutsy performance second up at Cranbourne where she was beaten narrowly by a classy performer. The filly is a joy to watch and gives it her all when every she gets to the track. i look forward to seeing her return and know all the owners agree.

Wednesday 12th July Kurotaka finishes second jumpout
Kurotaka (Blackhawk x Promise Sweetheart) jumpout at Balnarring on Wednesday 18th against the older horses and finished a creditable 2nd over 800m. the filly is to have another trial on the 31st July before hitting the racetrack shortly after. I hope all goes well between now and the big debute start.
*******************************************************************************************************************************************************
Tuesday 24th July Lavarak improves again
Lavarak trial today at Cranbourne over 800m and improved to finish 2nd. John Mcardle will be getting the filly ready for a 1000m 2yo race on Friday the 7th July at Seymour where the lovely General Nediym filly make her debut. All of her owners are very excited and we expect the moody filly to show us what she is made of with in the next week of so... Fingers crossed that she is faster than some of her owners at present.
********************************************************************************************************************************************************
Friday 16th June Lavarak tirals nicely
Lavarak, our nice General Nediym filly recently trialled at Cranbourne over 800m and like many out there she showed that she definetly does not like rain effected tracks. The plan with her is to have another trial on Tuesday the 27th June before going to the races for her first race start. The owners of this filly including myself are very excited about her prospects on the racetrack. The filly has shown potential thus far and Brad Rawiller who recently rode the filly in the trial reports that she has ability but doesn't like to get her toes wet so we should be trying to avoid wet tracks and targeting her debut run for a try track in the north of the state. Fingers crossed until then.
********************************************************************************************************************************************************
Friday 12th May Tulsami continues to impress
"She has ability!" well that is what top Victorian trainer Mick Price said after he saw the run of Tulsami at Cranbourne on the 12th. The big testa Rossa filly was not comfortable with the clod's of mudd being kicked up at her but continually made ground on the leaders and with a little luck could have gone close to being right in the finish. Her trainer John Mcardle was over the moon with our horse's run and has decided to spell the filly and bring her back for the firmer tracks of the spring and the better prizemoney. The filly will spend the next six weeks at Fulmen Park before coming back into work and searching for more ground.
********************************************************************************************************************************************************
Sunday 23rd April Tulsami Finishes 5th on Debute.
Brad Rawiller's first words after he got off TULSAMI were "thats was a super Run" and I think all the owners agree. The track at Cranbourne was very heavy and 1000m is definetly not TULSAMI'S preferred trip but she battled through the going and at the top of the straight she looked like she was going to finish third. The grey filly in the race didn't help our cause by shirting out and causing our filly the get off balance and therefore finish fifth. John informs me the filly is happy this morning and has eaten up over night. TULSAMI will next be aimed at a 1200m Maiden at Cranbourne on 12th May. Lets hope the filly gets a firmer track and less interference.

Wednesday 5th April Tulsami Working Up A Storm
|
|
Tulsami has been apart of the Luke Anthony Bloodstock banner for twelve months now and she has come along way over this time. Twelve months ago we had a good bodied Testa Rossa filly with a vicious temper. Now we have a big, strong race filly who has shown potential on the training track and is ready to make her debute in the coming weeks. I personally want to thank her loyal owners for there patience and understanding over the last twelve months and fingers crossed that she performs well on Monday 10th April at Cranbourne in her first official barrier trial. Photo's taken of her at Balnarring on Wednesday 5th April. |

Wednesday 15th March Kurotaka Trials
We all knew she had speed as she displayed this to us when we purchased her at the 2005 William Inglis Ready to Run sale at Moonee Valley. Though after the trial some of us were gobsmacked in how quick she actually is.... Kurotaka was having her first trial yesterday and after missing the start by 1.5 lengths she hunted up and had enough speed to easily catch, cross and lead the field. Kurotaka was run down in the shadows of the post but this was a great learning experience and I expect the filly to trial even better next week before we chase a nice race with her within the next fortnight.

Monday 6th March This Time We Are On The Other Side Of The Ledger
Well it had to happen didn't it.... Finally after years of pain and anguish I managed to have a horse sell through the sales ring. Lot 395 a bay filly by Champion first season sire MORE THAN READY out of three time winner SWISS FRANC went through the Melbourne Premier Sales ring. Rex Wilkinson and I purchased the mare in foal to More Than Ready at the 2003 Sydney December Sale for the small some of $6,700. After expenses we calculate that the filly owed us somewhere between $12,000 and $13, 000. The filly was a little small for my liking but she made her reserve of $30,000 and we were all the happier to let her go to a new home.
If any of you are interested in becoming a breeder please contact Luke Wilkinson to get the best advice and hopefully limit you risk. Below is a picture of the filly that was sold.

Monday 13th February A NICE HORSES ENTERS THE TEAM
As I frequently remind owners "...patients is a key to success..." this also applies when purchasing horses. On Monday the 13th February close to the end of the second day of the Sydney Classic Sale Luke Anthony Bloodstock virtually Stole a horse out of the sales ring. The cracking DANEHILL DANCER ex GENTLE NYMPH filly was valued from $50,000 to $70,000 by many top classic agents and trainers with clean X Rays the $27,500 paid for her was a bargain. The horse is currently up for syndication and looks to be a ready made racehorse. The filly is pictured below. To view her Sirecam video please click on this link...

Monday 30th January LAVARAK TRIALS SUPERBLY!!!
It has been less than 12 months since the lovely General Nediyn ex Loitering filly was purchased from the 2005 William Inglis Premier Sale. The filly now named LAVARAK, trialled today at Cranbourne and impressed all connections with her professionalism, early speed and tractability. The filly finished fourth less than two lengths from the winner with Vlad Duric aboard. Vlad stated to connections that the filly felt great and that she would be a nice horse in the future as she is likely to need a little bit of time to develop into what we all hope is a handy horse.
LAVARAK is owned by a great bunch of people who are mostly first time racehorse owners. I wish them all the best in the coming months.
